POSITION: MEDICAL ASSISTANT or CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT (CMA OR MA)
DEPARTMENT: VWMS Administration (Will be required to float to other areas of VWMS)
STATUS: PRN (as needed, no guaranteed hours)
HOURS: Typically 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Some evenings until 7:00 pm required.
DAYS: Typically Monday through Friday
WEEKENDS: Some Saturdays until 1:00 pm required.
The Medical Assistant (MA) will perform a variety of patient care activities: vitals, weight, height, patient assessment, history, health complaints, injections, EKG recordings, ear irrigations, and suture removals to name a few. This person will assist provider with minor procedures, prepare exam rooms and ready instruments needed for patient appointments. Will be required to contact insurance companies, pharmacies, hospitals, and other physician’s offices. Must have detailed knowledge of medical terminology, pharmaceuticals, and be able to communicate appropriate medical information to all clients. Responsible for rotating all four MA positions: Call, Dr., CNP, and Float. This person will also be able to perform a variety of other skills, such as phone operations, scheduling, filing, and use of office equipment.
1) High school graduate or the equivalent required.
2) Graduate of a medical assistant training program OR graduate of a similar training program with at least three years of work experience in patient care, preferably in a medical group setting.
3) Must have and maintain CPR certification.
4) Must be able to work irregular hours.
