For Van Wert County Hospital’s Obstetric Department, the arrival of the first baby is always an exciting event. “We always wonder who is going to be our New Year’s Baby,” said Sammi Joseph, Director of Medical/Surgical Services, Pediatrics and Obstetrics.
To their amazement, Amanda and Robert Roehm gave birth to the Van Wert County Hospital’s first baby of 2013. They welcomed their son, Ryder Lee Roehm into the world at 12:37 a.m. Wednesday, January 2nd. Dr. Douglas Moore delivered the baby, who weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces and measured 20 inches long.
For having the first baby of the year, the couple received a gift basket valued at over $900 worth of gifts from area businesses. Gifts include items such as gift cards from NGP...Printing Professionals, Westwood Car Wash, Van Wert Medical Services, Pick ‘n Save, Van Wert County Hospital’s Nutrition Services, YMCA, Willow Bend Restaurant and YWCA. Also donated were: banks from First Financial Bank and Edward Jones – Ryan Lindemann, homemade baby hats donated by Annie Edgell and baby books donated by the Van Wert Council of Homemakers & Community Education and The Ohio State University Extension. A basket full of baby supplies was donated by The Hubbard Company. Other area businesses and individuals donated items including Gaylord E. Leslie Wellness Center, Shirley Straley – Mary Kay Cosmetics, Stephanie Dawn, The Lima News, Maverick Media, WERT/WKSD Radio, Parkway Independent, Twig III, Van Wert County Hospital and Van Wert Manor donated an embroidered hat and blanket. A few items were also donated anonymously.
The couple was very appreciative for the basket they received. Van Wert County Hospital would also like to thank the generous individuals and businesses who contributed to the 2013 Van Wert County Hospital New Year’s Baby. Congratulations to the new parents!
